Most fax users don’t want to get bothered with the how’s and why’s of IP Faxing and just want to use the technology. There are a bunch of Internet fax services out there that allow both individual and corporate faxers to send and receive fax messages in real-time without having to invest on special expensive hardware or even software. The only requirements are generic Internet software like browsers and email clients. Here is a list of some of the most prominent of these services.

RingCentral

RingCentral has an interesting variety of faxing plans, starting at $8 a month for 300 fax pages. Heavy faxers can have up to 1000 pages per month for $20 when paid yearly. Pages beyond the limit cost 6 cents. The service includes toll-free and local fax numbers, and users can have multiple fax lines, each one costing $5. RingCentral service can integrate with Microsoft office applications, so that you can send faxes directly via MS Word or Excel.

eFax

eFax’s free service allows you to receive up to 20 fax messages a month. When you upgrade, you can choose local and toll-free numbers in 2000 locations and 35 countries. For nearly $13 a month, you can send 30 pages and receive 130, surplus pages costing 20 cents. This service is of the rare ones that allow you to sign your faxes electronically. You can have the signature ready to be used anytime. This service is relatively more expensive, but the quality and features have interested millions of users.

MyFax

Without having to install any software or hardware, you can, with this service, send 100 fax pages and receive 200 per month for $10, each surplus costing 10 cents. MyFax supports MS Office documents and offers and web interface. Companies with bigger faxing needs can have customized deals. This service does not require any special fax software to be installed on your computer.

MetroFax

For $13 monthly (after a $10 setup fee), MetroFax allows you up to 1000 fax pages, both incoming and outgoing fax amounting to that. Additional pages cost 3 cents each. The fax can come and go via email or printed to fax applications. The service also supports Mac and PDA users. Extra fax numbers available. Custom prices for companies.

TrustFax

TrustFax offers 4 plans for different types of users, starting with a monthly fee of $5 for 50 pages a month, to $19 for 240 pages. Additional pages cost 10 cents. Conventional features like toll-free numbers, Office integration and scalability for corporate users available.

RapidFax

This service allows you to send 100 pages and receive 200 per month for $10 a month. It offers a web interface and supports MS Office.

Send2Fax

Send2Fax offers 4 different plans, targeting each a type of user. There are prepaid and post-paid services, the former charging 15 cents per page. Executive plans may go up to 200 pages per month for $12. Fax broadcasting is also available, on a send-only basis, for 6 cents a page.

Faxage

Faxage has different plans as well, as is good for light users. The Lite plan costs $3.5 a month, 5 cents per minute. The higher plan costs $8 per month and faxing is charged at 5 cent per minute.

FaxitNice

This service is good for people who send faxes occasionally and do not want to be bothered with monthly fees. Sending a page costs 18 cents and receiving one costs 75 cents. Your minimum credit amount should be $20. It also has monthly plans - $6 for 50 pages monthly and $30 for 1100 pages.

MaxEmail

This service is one of the oldest around and has a multitude of plans. Fax can be received as email attachments and sent through email and the web. For $24 a year, you can send 100 pages monthly. Among the other plans, there is also a corporate plan that allows 2000 pages for $105 a month.
