Sipgate.com Seems To Be Out Of Business.

I signed up with Sipgate about a year ago but it's never worked to receive calls and usually says my phone is off line. Now I can't even open their web page to login so they seem to be out of business.

Vonage Service is a NIGHTMARE !

I added a SoftPhone line (to make and receive calls on my laptop). They assigned me a random password which is very hard to remember. On the website there is no place to change that password. After FOUR phone calls, nobody at Vonage customner service or tech support can tell me how to change the SoftPhone password. Finally they said that it can never be changed. Absurd. It took an hour and a half, and lots of unnecessary stress, to accomplish nothing. STAY AWAY FROM VONAGE.

I use Google Voice

Vonage may or may not use wireless internet - they could not give me an answer. So I use basic service from Qwest at $25.13 a mo, and get FREE Google Voice for long distance to USA and CANADA. Easy to set up, nothing to download and you have custom voice mail messages for your contact list. You can link all your cell, house and work phones. It uses land lines so you don't need your computer. Gives a audio and written log of your voicemails. Will dial from your computer if you wish. I also get a low income discount from Qwest which brings my monthly bill to $13.18. Never drops a call because it's land lined based.

Be aware of VONAGE , they cheat you

I took Vonage 1 yr back assuming that it has unlimited international calling. In 2nd month my minutes exceeded 5000 and they asked to reduce my usage to below 5000 min. when i adhered to it , after few months they asked to reduce the usage to below 3000 min. Now when i m using below 3000 min, they say that i m making calls to more than 18 unique numbers , more then 300 min of call forwarding. their service is really bad. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU WANT VOIP SERVICE FOR LOT OF INTERNATIONAL CALLING

VONAGE

I became a Vonage customer when my family moved away from the Bay Area to the country. I was so happy that Vonage allowed us to have a Bay Area local phone number!!! The cost was afforable and at the time no one could beat them. I have nothing negative to say about their services. However, now I have discovered an even far better company that offers Voip technology with three way video conference calls. Simply amazing to call from the USA to the UK and New Zealand on 3 way conf. all at a low monthly fee of only $29.99 usd.

Callcentric

We have been using callcentric for several years from now,and have nothing to say except "Excellent" - voice quality is absolutely great, reliability has never been a problem, and their customer service issue resolution (via email) is very responsive and helpful.

Vonage is taking Customers for a ride

Vonage is getting customers through wrong advertisement. Once they have the connection the promised unlimited international calls is not provided. They pull up a strange rule which is sneaked through in normal agreement saying they will only support normal residential use which should be less than 3000 mins per month. So the offer of unlimited international calling minutes is entirely incorrect. This company should be penalised for wrong promises in advertisement.

Vonage

I have had Vonage, since they first came out. To date, I have had no problems with them and have had only to call customer service twice when I first was installing it, and they were extremely patient and helpful. Since then I have only called two other times to find out if they are ever going to get the specific number block. They have something similar but it will block all your calls and send them to voice mail. I want to be able to block and unblock specific numbers, whenever I choose. Unfortunately, some companies do offer that service. I'm afraid of changing companies because I have heard terrible stories about other companies. To date, I have had no problems with their phone and fax service.

Ooma isn't the answer

With Ooma, you get to make the choice. You can plug their module directly into your router, or you can plug it into your modem and then, in series, plug your router into your ooma box. Unfortunately, if you plug the Ooma telo into your router, then your telephone connection is unacceptable. However, if you do it the other way, Ooma keeps knocking out the connection to the router. Either way, it is an unacceptable service. This service is only good for people who like to re-boot their devices frequently.

Calling Cards, Voip services

Magic Jack, Skype, international calling cards, all a rip off. Advertising and charging an international rate which is accurate, but hitch is every call is charged far more minutes than you use. With Magic Jack, yesterday--15 international calls were made, 12 of which never received a answering party, three of which the calls were disconnected in the middle of conversations. The result 11 minutes of talk time--my acount charged for approximately 70 minutes of talk time. This has been the same with Skype and Att international calling cards. Are they all crooks?

Phone Power is fine

Had outdialing about a month & in for a week. I do not use international, so cannot comment. Support is freidly and competent. From other users on forums, it seems quality of all providers very dependent on location. Most Fl users seem to have few problems, whereas Ca has many. Probably local broadband suppliers. Phone Power gives 1.5 lines, that is 1 in and two out. That half is very handy.

Vonage

I've had Vonage since 2004 or 2005 and have never had a problem. I've only had to call them maybe 2 or 3 times and hated that because I think the call center is in India some place but other than that, I love my Vonage service. Calls are clear, no problems and they are WAY cheaper than my local phone company, Verizon. The quality of calls is better than Comcast, my cable and broadband provider, that's why I will not switch to them. I would highly recommend Vonage.
