What did you call it the very first time?
I call it voice over internet because the first time I recall hearing it discussed it was referred to as making phone calls over the internet and I saw the VoIP and instantly thought it was "voice over internet phone" which is pretty close I guess. It wasn't until much later that I really noticed the upper/lower case and made the IP connection.
