Enhanced Voicemail

By Nadeem Unuth, About.com

Definition:

Enhanced voicemail is voicemail a step further - integrated with other technologies. With the enhanced voicemail feature, you can listen to your voicemails over the Internet using the web interface of your VoIP service provider; listen to your voicemails from any other phone; or receive your voicemails as email attachments.

Enhanced voicemail also allows you to be notified of new voicemails wherever you are, through your mobile phone or pager. Say you are on a travel; you can retrieve and listen to your voicemail from any phone available. You do so by just dialing the appropriate number with your credentials and listen.

Since enhanced voicemails can be retrieved over the web and with email, the media files can be saved for later use or for archiving.
