SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)
What is SIP? The Session Initiation Protocol is complementary with VoIP since it provides signaling functions to it. Apart from VoIP, it is used in other multimedia technologies as well, like online games, video and other services. SIP provides the necessary signaling for creating, modifying and terminating sessions with one or more communicating participants.
H.323 Overview
H.323 is the ITU-T protocol for allowing multimedia communication over Packet based systems. It enables voice, video conferencing and data transmission.
