Whose iPhone - Cisco's or Apple's?

Thursday January 18, 2007
Isn't it a jewel? The new Apple iPhone that is announced for this year is quite impressive. The Apple iPhone has got nothing big to do with VoIP; it is more of a media-center-iPod-mobile-phone than an IP Phone. But then why am I speaking about it on a VoIP blog?

When I heard the name iPhone lately, the first thing that ticked in my mind was the Cisco iPhone, which is in fact an IP phone and which was the first one around. Cisco obtained the iPhone trademark in 2000; and so has now launched a lawsuit against Apple Inc. for giving that oh-so trendy name to its newborn baby. So, next time you say iPhone, prefix it with either Apple or Cisco!
