Software as a Service (SaaS) is a key term in cloud computing. SaaS allows you to use software from the cloud with little or no acquisition cost, predictable monthly cost and decreased overhead. CaaS (Communications as a Service) is the application of the SaaS model that is powered by VoIP. CaaS allows organizations to select and tune their deployment models. Typical CaaS features include call recording, IVR (interactive voice response), email and text chat, video conferencing, instant messaging, network operations and management etc.

Environments where CaaS fits ideally would be contact centers, audio conferencing and video conferencing. Different scenarios for the delivery of CaaS in these three environments are presented in that article, where you can get a clear grasp of the CaaS thing and how it can benefit your own organization.
