Vonage Improves International Offers To 1 Cent/Min
Monday October 20, 2008
I read here and there today about Vonage's difficulty in getting rid of some $253 million senior unsecured convertible notes and is extending the tender that is due shortly (press release). I believe innovation in the tailoring of VoIP services and plans is the way forward for providers, and I was thinking how Vonage has failed in doing so.
However, certain things at Vonage Holdings are real improvements that kill competition, like the international calling plans. For $60 you can call 60 countries unlimited for free, and paid rates are at 1 cent per minute - the cheapest I have heard so far. I blogged recently on 1ButtonToWifi that offers international calls for 2 cents a minute, naming it the cheapest. But still, Vonage's service, like other residential and business services, remain fixed, while the future is in mobility. Anyhow, Vonage stays No 1 on my list of subscription-based residential VoIP services.
