Thursday August 28, 2008
American Airlines launched Aircell's mobile Wi-Fi service called Gogo last week. Aircell "didn't want people talking on a plane," as stated its spokeswoman. She says, "we are doing our best to make VoIP services unusable.” This is so because they have a American's policy and Gogo's terms of service to respect.
But a few days later, Andy Abramson got VoIP running on the same network via Phweet, a web tool that makes conversations and conference calls possible between Twitter friends. Skype Journal explains how the VoIP blocking works and how Andy managed to get through with Phweet here. I guess if you want to make calls in planes, go to Phweet.com and follow the three simple steps that get you started.
